Finding this etching, deciphering the signature lead to forgotten Jewish Vienese etcher Guido Grünewald. He started his artistic career late in live and was short-lived. He died shortly after his print of a sleeping kitten cat became world famous as Chessie in America. Rembrandt’s self portrait is since 1783 kept in Vienna Kunsthistorisches Museum. 

With the help of a collecting friend in Boston these 4 Chessie prints (lithographically reproduced 1960s calendar plates) were added to the collection to illustrate this amazing story.
